scott usa product launch/ bum VS dirtpile update

cam over at nsmb just posted an article about scott usa's product launch back in june.

here are two pics from cam at the voltage launch over on lower river:

sweet pedal flectors!

milking lower riv for all she's got...

imagine if we'd had a real park on lower riv for the product launch.

maybe silas would be shredding a gigantic berm in that showtime corner instead of the subtle horseshoe it is now, and kyle would be riding down those rocks on a black diamond trail instead of turning them into some stupid jib.

what a concept!

gravity logic just issued a new helmet cam of their product.

how about a little of this first trail down skier's right of lower riv, with something resembling the second trail tucked in the north facing trees below roundhouse?

pump track is on hold for inter-the-dragon bike, tbc on the 28th of september.

dialed tweakers

cycling is a small world full of cliques and subcultures.

from the same small corner of the world, we have two gentleman cyclists lets call 'outliers.'

i'd like to issue a warning concerning this next video from our bVm news affiliates over at the team robot :

Team Robot Editor's Note:

Team Robot in no way condones the use of the words "fixie," "fixie lifestyle," "one gear one life," "track bike barspin," or any other words that conjure up images of wannabe poor urbanite 20, 30, or 40 somethings who try to extend their adolescence as long as possible with things like awkwardly tight jeans, messenger bags, and v-neck t-shirts.

So just to clarify:

Fixed gear=bad

Chris Akrigg=good

bum confession 2:

i once owned/rode a trials bike, and it hurt my back.

last day of the lifts/ bum confession

made it out for the last day of the lifts yesterday.

rode lower river for posterity as the leg's not ready for the big bad bald one quite yet.

here are a couple pump oriented offerings from our neighbors over at scott usa:

dollar mountain slalom series anyone?

bum VS dirtpile

point bum.

"what am i going to ride on this sweet dirtpile?"

well, for starters, your bike.

what you learn from pumping your bike on the dirtpile will only help your on-trail shred.

if you want to get tech, or just need an excuse for a new bike, a "dual slalom" or "dirtjump" bike, geared or SS, is the weapon of choice for dirtpile shred.

steep slammed geometry with a short wheel base, if you're about performance.

you can spend $600-$2300 for one of these steeds outthebox, or just shred your little sister's bike like a champion.

let's take a look at some examples of sweet dirtpile bikes:

TonicFab Howie:

Kona Shonky ($899)

some guy is selling a santa cruz jackal for cheap in the mt. express, which would work well too.

i'll try to continue the examples throughout the week to keep the pump stoke high.

oh, and if you were running at six on the saddle road connector singletrack with your stupid armband ipod cranked too loud to hear me yelling 'on your left' for the last 200 yards- i hate you (just not as much as fixies and their riders).

pump track world champs

a few years ago, no one had heard of a pumptrack.

now there's a pumptrack world championship:

just a follow up- the road ride went well.

i'm not rushing out to by a radioshack lance kit for my 2010 cat3 season, but at least i tried, right?

also, in an ongoing discussion with my lady, my blind hatred of fixies and niners still flies.

live life unclipped.

greetings

this is a venue for my rants and raves about being a bum in the mountains.

first, a rant:

today's sign of the apocolypse- eat your hearts out nineroos!

yah, the right racer on the right course could've rallied a 24" wheel dh bike to the podium too...

so stupid.

second, two videos I've been raving about this year:

my girlfriend told me i have to stop blindly hating road bikers as it is an unattractive quality or something, so i'm going for a road ride to try and level.

don't worry, i won't clip in.
